All Children Thriving : Creating and Measuring Integrated Solutions for Healthy Birth, Growth, and Development Grand Challenges India
On June 2012, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) signed an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on mission-directed research and build a Grand Challenges India which was launched on 20th March 2013, to support innovations in vaccines, drugs, agricultural products, and interventions related to malnutrition, family and child health.
The partnership along with U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched its third initiative ‘All Children Thriving’ which aims to dramatically change the health and development landscape in India.
BIRAC Innovators Meet 2014
BIRAC organized its 3rd Innovators Meet at New Delhi on 22nd-23rd September 2014. The theme of the meet was – Prioritizing Innovation Research for Affordable Product Development. The event witnessed the participation of around 200 delegates from Industry, Academia, SMEs and Start-ups. Many BIG grantees also participated in the event. The event started with the Welcome Address and theme introduction by Dr Renu Swarup, MD, BIRAC and Senior Adviser, DBT. Prof K. VijayRaghavan, Secretary, DBT and Chairman, BIRAC, presented the prestigious BIRAC Innovator Awards to the winners. The BIRAC Innovators Compendium was released during the Inaugural Session.
