BIRAC along with DBT is playing a crucial role in the implementation and delivery of the flagship programs of the Indian Government, especially 'Make in India' in Biotechnology sector. BIRAC recognizes the necessity for entrepreneurship development among the youth in the country and hence has taken initiatives to build, support and promote Indian Biotech Ecosystem in Healthcare, Agriculture and Industrial Biotechnology.
BIRAC has supported 95 bio-incubators (75 Bio-NEST centers & 20 E-Yuva centers) across the country so far and will continue to create more state of art bio-incubation facilities to nurture the ecosystem. With an aim to foster and facilitate bio-entrepreneurship, including imparting bio-entrepreneurs necessary knowledge and skills for transforming innovative biotech ideas into successful & sustainable ventures, BIRAC Regional Innovation Centre (BRIC), BIRAC Regional Entrepreneurship Centre (BREC), BIRAC Regional Bio-innovation Centre (BRBC) & BIRAC Regional Techno-entrepreneurship Centre East and North East Region (BRTC-E & NE) have been set up by BIRAC.
