BIRAC Announces 3rd Call for Proposal Under E-Yuva Scheme for BIRACs E-Yuva Fellows

E-YUVA (Empowering Youth for Undertaking Value Added Innovative Translational Research) scheme aims to promote a culture of applied research and need-oriented (societal or industry) entrepreneurial innovation among young students and researchers.

The scheme provides support for students under the following two categories:

  1. BIRAC’s E-YUVA Fellows (for pursuing undergraduate students)
  2. BIRAC’s Innovation Fellows (for PG and PhD degree holders)

The current call focuses exclusively on undergraduate students under the E-YUVA Fellow category. Fellows will be selected through a national-level application and shortlisting process, conducted in collaboration with E-YUVA Centres and E-YUVA Knowledge Partners.

E-YUVA Centers: E-YUVA scheme is implemented through dedicated hubs called E-YUVA Centers. Each centre has a BIRAC supported pre-incubation space which offers infrastructure and equipment for basic research and experimentation by selected students. These centres act as anchors and extend requisite support and mentoring to students.

Currently, BIRAC has 19 E-YUVA Centres; however, this call is being launched for the following 12 centres only:

  1. University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Rajasthan
  2. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, TN
  3. University of Agricultural Sciences UAS, Dharwad, Karnataka
  4. Anna University, Chennai, TN
  5. GIET University, Gunpur, Odisha
  6. Career College, Bhopal, MP
  7. Adamas University, Kolkata, WB
  8. PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore, TN
  9. Atmiya University, Rajkot, Gujarat
  10. University Of Kashmir, Srinagar, J&K
  11. Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, Solapur, Maharashra
  12. Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, Punjab

The E-YUVA Scheme aims to provide the following support to promote a culture of translational research and need-oriented (societal or industry) entrepreneurial innovation:

  • Fellowship
  • Annual Research grant
  • Incubation support by the E-YUVA centers
  • Mentoring by BioNEST Bioincubators

BIRAC encourages applications from Tier II/III cities.

BIRAC’s E-YUVA Fellows shall apply as a team and pursue their research work at their College/University labs and may access facilities at E-YUVA and E-YUVA Knowledge Partners as and when required. It will be mandatory for all the fellows to spend 3-4 weeks at E-YUVA centre/E-YUVA Knowledge Partner during their fellowship period.

BIRAC’s E-YUVA Fellows (for undergraduate students)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A team of upto 5 Indian students from Indian Institutes/College pursuing under graduation in any domain. Teams with students from different disciplines are encouraged. One team can have students from same/different college/institute.
  • The team should be supported by a mentor/guide.
  • The team should apply through an E-cell of a College/Institute. In case, the team comprises students from different colleges/institutes, each team member student’s college/institute should have an E-Cell/Institutional Innovation Council/Incubation centre.

Online application submission needs to be done through BIRAC website.

Applicants need to create a user account on BIRAC’s website (For E-YUVA fellows, any one team member can create the user account on behalf of the team) followed by filling up of online application form.
