Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Section 8 ‘Not-for-Profit Company’ of Government of India, has been set up as DBT’s interface agency, to serve as a single window for emerging biotech companies.
The scheme enables technology innovators and entrepreneurs to pursue a promising technology idea, and establish and validate proof of concept (POC) for the idea.
Special Call for BIG-NER would support innovative ideas for implementation/deployment in the states of North East Region of Indian territory (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura). The proposals should highlight the application of the potential outcome in North Eastern Regions.
Grant-in-aid support of up to INR 25 lakhs would be provided under the special call for BIG scheme
KIIT-TBI-BioNEST, Bhubneswar is the BIRAC’s BIG Partner for special call for NER.

Substantiate the local presence through intent of technology development/implementation in NER
Only online application is accepted. For submissions, please register on BIRAC website under special call of BIG Category. User registration is open round the clock and closes by 5:30 PM on 15th January 2020.
Note: Prior recipients of BIG are ineligible
