BIRAC, NASSCOM and NASSCOM Foundation Innovation Challenge-“JanCare” in collaboration with GCI Last Date : 15th Feb 2021 at 5:30 pm

BIRAC, NASSCOM and NASSCOM Foundation Innovation Challenge-“JANCare” in collaboration with GCI, is a nationwide “Discover – Design – Scale” program, envisioned to identify Innovative health-tech solutions from Start-ups for strengthening the Healthcare Delivery in India. The platform is looking for technology interventions that can create a positive impact on healthcare delivery especially the affordability, accessibility and quality of services.

The affordable HealthTech solutions could potentially address the unmet needs of about 65% of population which is deprived of adequate primary health care. The challenge focuses mainly on innovations that can work in low resource settings at Public Healthcare Centres (PHCs), Community Healthcare Centers (CHCs), and Sub-Centers etc. in rural and semi-urban locations across the Nation.

  • Discover the Best HealthTech solutions that can work in Low Resource Settings.
  • Launch Pilot through Testbeds: Winners and some of the shortlisted applicants to be given an opportunity to implement their solutions through a pilot in collaboration with state governments and Industry experts.
  • Evangelize successful pilots to scale up Digital adoption levels across the country: After successful validation of the solutions through the pilot test beds the healthcare outcomes will be published and popularized for scaling the solutions for wider adoption

  • Applicants must comply with the definition of start-ups (pl refer DPIIT notification vide order no G.S.R. 127(E) dated 19th February 2019). 
  • Indian Startups at Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL7) and above are eligible to apply. Refer the Application form for the definition of TRLs.
  • HealthTech Products & Solutions being developed should not have violated/ breached any copyrights or patents either in India or Globally.

 

Company/Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)

  • The Company or LLP should be registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956/2013 and The Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 respectively.
  • A company is considered as ‘Owned’ by resident Indian citizen if minimum 51% of the capital in it is beneficially owned by resident Indian citizens and/or Indian Companies, which are ultimately owned and controlled by resident Indian citizens
  • A Project Leader who meets eligibility requirements mentioned below must represent the Company/LLP’s application
  • An applicant company, in which any promoter holding more than or equal to 20% of the shares, is a co-promoter of another ineligible company or a partner in another ineligible company/LLP then the applicant will be rendered ineligible. In case applicant is an LLP: An applicant LLP, in which any of the partners is also a partner in another ineligible LLP or is a co-promoter in another ineligible company, then the applicant will be rendered ineligible.
  • Entries can be submitted by existing (applicant) startup that can take the technology to the market either by themselves or in collaboration with another company.
  • As there is a requirement that the pilots in test-beds may start soon after the innovation challenge, the product/solution and the team composition should be well thought out and should be ready by the time of submitting the entry.

 

Essential Requirement: Project leader

Every proposal must clearly identify a Project Leader who will take responsibility for the technical and managerial aspects of the project execution. The Project Leader must be technically qualified to undertake the project. In the event that the proposal is shortlisted for the challenge in front of the Expert Selection Committee, then the same Project Leader will be required to present the case for support. In the event that proposal is shortlisted for funding support, then the Project Leader will be required to sign the project agreement.

  • The Proposals can be submitted online as per the required format. The website will provide a detailed user guide to facilitate the online proposal submission.
  • The process for submitting the proposals online is detailed below:
    • Go to BIRAC's website  https://www.birac.nic.in
    • Click on the Call for Proposal and then-current call tab in order to view the call detailed description.
    • Click on the active call against which you wish to submit the Proposal.
    • Further details on 'How to Submit a Proposal' would also be available in BIRAC 3i Portal.
    • If you are already a registered user, then kindly enter your login credential at the link in order to submit proposal: https://birac.nic.in/login.php
    • If you are a new user and your company/organization is not listed in the drop-down on the registration page, then you need to register your company/organization by clicking on link: https://birac.nic.in/desc_new.php?id=327
    • Once you register your company/organization, then your organization will be activated within 24 hrs. After activation, please create your login credential by browsing the same link : https://birac.nic.in/desc_new.php?id=327 After registration, you will receive an auto-generated link on the registered email id entered at the time of registration.
    • Once you login into https://birac.nic.in by using login credentials, then kindly click on  "Innovation Challenge- “JANCare” on the dashboard to submit the proposal.
    • Applicants are advised to fill up and submit their applications early without waiting for the last date in order to avoid any last-minute contingencies. The system stops accepting applications automatically after 5:30 PM of the last date of submission.

    • Requests for changes in the proposal once submitted will not be entertained.
