SPARSH (Social Innovation Programme for Products: Affordable and Relevant to Societal Health) is the Social Innovation Programme of BIRAC aimed at promoting the development of innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems through biotechnological approaches.
SIIP (Social Innovation Immersion Programme) is one of the components of SPARSH scheme under which a pool of "Social Innovators(SIIP Fellows)" is being created who could identify and address the social problems by biotechnological means. The program shall be implemented through SPARSH Centres.
BIRAC -SPARSH Centres are responsible for implementation of Social innovation program of BIRAC and will provide a host oftechnical, IP, business and marketing mentoring to the fellows.Under the present call, proposals are invited from interested agencies for establishment of SPARSHCentres in following thematic areas:
• Maternal and Child Health
• Ageing and Health
• Food and Nutrition•Waste to Value•Combating environmental pollution
• Agri-Tech (including reducing post-harvest losses)
Incubation centers, Research parks, Knowledge park, Foundations, Technology Centers, Incubators, Public Research Institutions, Private Research Institutions, established as a legal entity under the relevant Law of India having at least 51%Indianstakeholders (owners/partners/trustees/ members/associates etc.)are eligible to apply. It is desirous for theapplicant organization tohave:
➢ A clinical partner and Social partner tofacilitateneed identification.
➢ Experts who can provide mentorship to fellows
