Title: In the present project, popularization of productive silkworm Cross Breed PM x SLFC27 which was developed under DBT funded project for commercial exploitation at farmer’s level was undertaken. In line of taking the technology forward, the Pure Mysore Female parent and SLFC27 Male parent and silkworm eggs were distributed among the Registered Seed Producers under Seed Act for silkworm rearing in a large scale. As per the seed norms, the cocoons were procured from the farmers after completion of successful silkworm rearing. The cocoons procured from the seed farmers were processed and produced new Cross Breed PM x SLFC27 silkworm eggs. The produced silkworm eggs were distributed to Commercial Chawki Rearing Centres to rear the silkworms up to 2nd moult about 7 – 8 days . Further, after 2nd moult these silkworms were distributed to the commercial Sericulture farmers to produce the hybrid cocoons. Based on the results of field trials, as compared to normal existing Cross Breed PM x CSR2 in the field, the new Cross Breed, PM x SLFC27 is performing better at field conditions. The male parent of the new Cross Breed, SLFC27 is performing better than normal CSR2 because of two parents are involved in the preparation of SLFC27. Further, conducted awareness programme to the Sericulture Farmer’s on “Importance of rearing Silkworm Sex-limited breeds for cocoon colour and their importance in Egg production centres”.
