Smart vision inspection system for identification and removal of foreign particles during black tea processing

Title: In tea industries, one of the common problems is the presence of organic and inorganic foreign matter within the processed tea. Foreign matters may be introduced in tea during the inception of tea processing to packaging stage. The dead insects, insect fragments, webs, dead larvae etc are the main foreign matters those mixed with tea leaves during tea processing. Various inorganic materials such as metal, plastic, stones, nylon, glass, wood may be mixed with tea during tea processing. Tea processing industries are very careful when it comes to detection of foreign bodies in made tea because it can lead to injury to customers. This, in turn, can cause loss of loyalty as well, recalls and rejections. Manual sorting process for cleaning of foreign matter in tea industry is laborious, time consuming and prone to human mistakes. The present work discloses a system which captures the images of processed tea passing through the conveyor and analyse the captured images to detect the visible foreign matter presents on

Innovator: C-DAC, Kolkata
