Hybrid orchids

Title: Hybrid orchids of Indian origin

Innovator: Kwaklei and Khonggunmelei Orchids Pvt. Ltd.

Our company is developing hybrid orchids using natural orchid species available in India, particularly in the north-east region. Hybridization is affected using hand pollination while the developing embryos are cultured in vitro till they become well developed. The well grown plants are grown under polyhouse condition till flowering. The new flowers are described and registered as new hybrids, with the Royal Horticultural Society, London. Clones of the elite genotype are developed through micropropagation and raised again till flowering. These clones are, now, the commercial breeds.

USP: Our hybrid orchids are unique in the fact that they are mostly of Indian origin, i.e. developed using orchid species grown in India. They are believed to have a niece at the global orchid market.
